Fen'Harel is the Dread Wolf, the trickster of elven lore, who, according to legends (which may or may not be right, but definitely don't tell the whole story), tricked the elven gods, and their rivals, the forgotten ones into remaining in their realms forever by playing both sides against each other, and making them think he was doing what was best for them in their war I was thinking about this earlier, and I love how they foreshadowed this right from the start.

That name is the key to understanding some of the ending. To put it plainly: Flemeth calling Solas the Dread Wolf is a huge twist. The implication is that, like her, Solas houses an Elven god.

Solas encounters Flemeth, in an unknown location next to the Eluvian in a post-epilogue conversation. Solas is weak from his slumber and the orb breaking, but also feels needed by the Elvhen. He goes to Flemeth apologising for what he must do and she empathises with him. Flemeth willingly gives her soul to Solas (as we learn earlier, no one can snatch a soul without permission) so he can fulfil his duty.
